LAKE OF THE CONDORS Lake of the Condors is a huge lake surrounded by pristine cloud forest high on the eastern slopes of the Andes. In 1997, the lake came to the attention of the world when 219 mummies where found and recovered from tombs overlooking the lake. The mummies and over 2000 over artifacts were featured on a Discovery Channel film. The film documents the removal of the finds by specialists for study and protection in the nearby village of Leimebamba
