Day 1 Chiclayo – Chachapoyas
Airport pick up service in Chiclayo and private transportation to Chachapoyas. We will see beautiful panoramas on our trip to the unspoiled city of Chachapoyas. Night in beautiful Colonial Mansion, 3 star hostel. (BL)
Day 2 Karajia-Pinchourco–Chachapoyas
We will go to the sarcophagus of Karajia perched on a cliff. From there we will see more sarcophagus higher on a sheer cliff than any building you have ever seen. Night in Colonial Mansion in Chachapoyas (B, L)
DAY 3 Chachapoyas-Inca Trail Levanto – Choctamal
Inca Trail to Chachapoyas (3 hours downhill), lunch in Chachapoyas and night in our Choctamal Marvelous Spatuletail Lodgelocated in the road to Kuelap, where you can observe hummingbirds and variety of orchids. (B, L,D)
DAY 4 Fortress Kuelap
We will spend the day at Fortress Kuelap known as "the Machu Picchu of the North". Kuelap has over 400 buildings inside 3 levels of walls, and is the largest stone structure in the Americas. Orchids and bromeliads cover the walls and trees inside this fortress. Overnight in Choctamal Marvelous Spatuletail Lodge. (B, L, D)
DAY 5 Choctamal-Revash-Leymebamba
On the way to Leymebamba we will see the Revash Ruins. The mausoleums resemble small housing and conglomerates of the same ones, forming miniature "villages". For this circumstance and for their emplacement in stacks, Revash's funeral houses show a curious similarity with the cliff-houses of Colorado. Night in Leymebamba. (B,BL,D)
Day 6 Leymebamba – Tajopampa
Interesting horseback or trek to Tajopampa (5 hours), we will pass the Centro Mallqui Museum and continue our trip through a variety of panoramas, cross rivers, bridges up the river canyon with towering cliffs on each side. After a picnic by the river we continue to La Petaca that afternoon and spend the night our rustic lodge in Tajopampa. (B, L, D)
Day 7 Tajopampa - Leymebamba
Today is the exploration day of all the ruins nearby. We will see the city of Boveda with round buildings on top of a mountain. We will also see the famous Diablo Huasi on a steep cliff with its variety of mausoleums with skeletons, mummies and burial cloth hanging from the tombs. Horseback to Leymebamba to spend the night. Day 8 Leymebamba- Museum Centro Mallqui – Choctamal
Now we get to see Peru's brand new Centro Mallqui Museum that the Austrians donated for this unique 1998 discovery at Lake of the Condors (you have seen on the Discovery Channel). The 219 mummies are here along with many artifacts. We will spend the night in Colonial Mansion in Chachapoyas. (B, BL)
Day 9 Chachapoyas – Gocta – Chachapoyas
Private transportation to within two hours hike to El Mirador where you can observe the Gocta waterfall. During the hike you will be able to observe variety of hummingbirds, toucans, birds, flowers, monkeys and other species from the region. Night in Colonial Mansion in Chachapoyas (B,L,D)
Day 10 Chachapoyas – Chiclayo Transfer to airport of Chiclayo for your evening flight to Lima. (B,BL)
