| A two or three
week tour could include the vast unseen northern circuit of Peru.
Don't assume that since the Cuzco zone was so well documented by the Spanish
and attracts all of Peru's tourists, that there is nothing to see north
of Lima. The vast majority of Peru's highest levels of ancient civilizations
are up there, simular to ancient Egypt or classic Greece.
Chiclayo, for example,
has a vast number of pyramids at Tucume and Sipan, with the richest gold
tombs of the Americas.
Cajamarca is another
fascinating, almost never seen city, where the Inca was captured.
Trujillo has Chan
Chan, the largest city ever discovered by Europeans in all the Americas.
Huaraz has spectacular
alpine, snow capped peaks, a setting for the Andes oldest culture ruins
of Chavin (which turns on real archaeologists more than any Inca ruins!)
All of these can be arranged
by Miryam. Now to make your itinerary fit your flight departure schedules
there are some worthwhile sights accessible from Lima, such as the
Gold
Museum, or Pachacamac, the most sacred oracle of the Andes.
A few hours from Lima are
the
Lines of Nazca & the Paracas Seashore Reserve, or
white water rafting at Lunahuana. Edda can facilitate short day
trips, or can serve as base for those wanting to go to the Cuzco Zone,
or the
Mid-Amazon Basin (which is tame compared to what we have
just out of Chachapoyas).
Welcome to a new undiscovered and
fascinating world!
